Because Why the Hell Not

Hi! Oh, you thought we were on hiatus? No, no. We just hopped in a Delorean, cranked it up to 88 mph and headed back to 1955 to see if we could change the course of 2020. As you can tell, it didn't quite work. We're really SORRY. 

The truth is, we needed a little time off—to work our day jobs (yep, we have those!), to spend a lot of time texting about Baby Yoda and to think about what nostalgia even means in the context of this fucking year. We’re still figuring out that last part, but we’re back because Haystack means so much to us. It’s a culmination of our friendship, of the things we love most in the world (the past, talking to people about the past, ‘90s Brad Pitt, talking to people about ‘90s Brad Pitt) and of the good side of the Internet—which we really really need right now. 

So what can you expect to see from us, other than our cute new site (which is all thanks to the amazing @kiana2c)? More interviews, more obsessive deep dives, more of our thoughts on the way we may be through with the past, but the past isn’t through with us (bonus points for anyone who gets that reference). Oh, and we have some fun new stuff in the works (Haystack merch, anyone?).

Yeah, it’s been a bad year. And who even KNOWS what the future holds. But what we do know is that the past can be a respite—a place of fun and wonder and ‘Oh my god remember that?’s to take our minds somewhere else, for a few minutes anyway.

We’re so excited to be back (to the future), and we hope you are too.
